Snow Day Video

Almost forgot I put this togethor!!!

Oh Yeah... It Snowed!!!

So Friday Dec 18th I wake up in the morning to the start of the "snow event of 2009." By the time it was all done we had over a foot in our front yard and are flight to WA had to be re-scheduled until Monday. In true LaVoie fashion we made the best of it. We hauled out Bec's old sled and Clark harnessed me up like one of the Budweiser Clydesdale's. I hauled him all over campus and we even got to do some sledding! Later that night we lost power for about 18 hours so I went to the basement and got out the camping gear. Hot breakfast and coffee for all (well not Clark (b/c he's to young?) or Becca (b/c she is pregnant)) So I guess just hot coffee for me! By Sunday the roads were clear enough for me to take Clark on his first snowshoeing expedition. We went to Bent Creek but the roads were impassable and as I passed the ump-teenth car in the ditch I started questioning whether or not we should be out. However, with Clark's prodding we decided to hit the Parkway. We trekked for about 1.5 hours straight up hill and then came back (round trip of 4 miles). The weather was beautiful and we both had a great time. All in all we made the best out of it and were able to make it fairly painlessly to Washington the next day!

Ice Ice Baby

So we had our first day above freezing in about three weeks yesterday. Thinking that the trails would certainly be thawed I headed out to Bent Creek with a couple of guys for a little night ride. About 10 minutes into the ride I realized that my rigid 1x9 with a small block on the back might not have been the best choice. I only bit it twice, which I believe to be a considerable accomplishment given the two inch layer of ice that laced the off camber single track, and had trouble riding the climbs hard without a granny gear to spin in. All in all though it was an awesome ride. We rode for a 1 hour and 45 minutes and were able to find some stuff without the frosty stuff on it. Good times!!!
